The I Do Foundation has developed a list of recommended nonprofit partners for consideration by its couples. Each of the I Do Foundation's recommended nonprofit partners must meet the following criteria:
- The organization must be recognized as a tax-exempt organization under the 501(c)(3) ruling of the IRS code.
- The organization's mission statement must include a focus on issues of social justice or equity for low-income or underserved populations.
- The organization must explicitly seek to have an impact on the lives of low-income people and/or underserved communities.
- The organization's mission statement must include a focus on issues of social justice or equity for low-income or underserved populations.
In addition to these criteria, the I Do Foundation conducts a financial review of each applicant to ensure strong fiscal management.
The I Do Foundation's recommended partners work both nationally and internationally. These organizations are creating structural changes and providing direct services in a sustainable manner.

The I Do Foundation recognizes that some couples may wish to support organizations beyond those listed as recommended nonprofit partners. Couples interested in suggesting a nonprofit may do so after they register their wedding with the I Do Foundation.
